Today I'm happy to announce the new IHP Pro and IHP Business plans together with the release of IHP v0.14 đ
As the time needed for developing and maintaining IHP is growing weâve been looking for solutions to enable digitally induced to focus on IHP in a more sustainable way. It often happens that open source projects are getting abandoned because the authors no longer have time and resources to keep up with it. As the ecosystem is growing, we want to ensure that this is not happening to IHP.
Weâve found that the best solution is to introduce a paid version of IHP targeted at developers working with IHP in a professional context (There will of course still be the MIT licensed Open Source version of IHP as know it right now). When we make a great framework that creates a lot of value for developers, we will have a lot of paying customers. When we have a lot of paying customers, we can be sure that IHP will be actively developed far into the future.
In the open source ecosystems itâs a common expectation that when you want to have a new feature, you need to write it yourself. Or youâre asking the maintainer to spend his free time on implementing the feature. With the new paid version, these roles change a bit: When youâre a customer, you can expect the feature requests to be put on the roadmap, no need to rely on someoneâs free time for doing that.
The new plans will help us to accelerate the adoption of IHP and type-safe functional programming in the wider software world.
The Pricing
There are three pricing tiers: Basic, Pro and Business.
IHP Basic is the Open Source IHP as we know it right now. It will continue to be Open Source as it is.
IHP Pro is for individual developers, small freelancers, indie hackers and early startups.
The IHP Business plan is for companies & freelancers that already have some traction.
If you're a student, you can get IHP Pro for free.
New Features
IHP Pro brings you advanced auth features like Email Confirmation, Login with Google and Login with GitHub. Soon it will also include a Stripe Integration, improved docker support and I18n.
IHP Business includes all features of IHP Pro, and will have support for additional databases (MySQL, MSSQL) in the future.
Additionally everyone on IHP Pro or IHP Business can use the new Feature Roadmap to suggest new features and help prioritise the roadmap of IHP.
We know that IHP is incredibly valuable for commercial software development. It can save you hundreds of hours of development and operations time over the lifecycle of your application (just think about all the null pointer errors you don't have anymore). Weâve priced to reflect that. A high price might be an issue for independent hackers, so we try to keep it as low as possible for individuals with the IHP Pro plan. Compared to the time IHP can save you, it's basically a steal.
As a bonus for early adopters you'll receive an IHP merch package (incl. Tshirt + Stickers) if you're one of the first 20 subscribers :)
